Sharing our Thanksgiving celebration of 2 years ago. As Featured on Hostess with the Mostess November 2013 🙂
One of the advantages of living in South Florida, is being able to celebrate the holidays outdoors and enjoy the nice weather. For Thanksgiving Dinner, I really wanted to create a simple and elegant table setting and incorporate elements of the fall season we so rarely see here in Miami.
I used brown, champagne, and gold colors for my color palette. Each place setting was personalized with each person’s name and a menu. Our little guests received a turkey coloring page instead. Table centerpieces and décor was an array of fall décor items such as pumpkin candles, crystal fall vegetables, fall leaves, wheat stands, and pine cones. Since we don’t get a traditional fall season in our area, I also put some fall potpourri to bring in the season.
A friend also brought us an actual branch with fall colored leaves and berries from a recent trip up north, so I used it as my centerpiece.
No Thanksgiving dinner is complete without dessert. Aside from the traditional pies, I included an assortment of muffins and treats. For the treats: Mini cinnamon rolls were placed in a cornucopia basket, Donut holes were decorated with chocolate and sprinkles to resemble acorns, waffle ice cream cones were reshaped to form mini cornucopias and filled with raisins and marshmallows. Sugar cookies, peanut butter truffles, and caramel popcorn completed the dessert table.
Can’t wait to see what the fall breeze brings in this year 🙂
